Azerbaijan is negotiating with the government of Georgia around increasing the price of the Azerbaijani gas. This information was released by the Minister of Energy and Fuel of Georgia, Alexander Khetaguri. “At present we are negotiating with Azerbaijani colleagues. Now it’s too soon to speak about the price of the gas starting from the next year. We will announce this after the completion of our negotiations,” said Khetaguri. Georgia buys gas from Azerbaijan at $120 per 1000 cubic meter. This price is going to be acting till the end of 2007. According to the unofficial information of the Ministry of Energy and Fuel of Georgia Azerbaijan is negotiating with Georgia to raise the price up to 180 USD per 1000 cubic meter. We’d like to mention that Georgia buys gas from Russia at $235 per 1000 cubic meter, which the country mainly receives during winter season. At present the importation of Russian fuel to Georgia is ceased as the country doesn’t need extra fuel.
