The investigation of the case of the murder of the Prosecutor of Lori marz, Albert Ghazaryan, who was shot on August 25, is developing in a new progress. The murder is being connected with the name of the mayor of Vanadzor Samvel Darbinyan.
In particular on September 8 the Prosecutor’s Office of Lori marz has investigated the employees of the “Belissimo” restaurant belonging to the nephew of the Vanadzor mayor, Arman Darbinyan. During the inquiry the investigators have persecuted and beaten the employees and made them sign under certain documents. Three of the employees were girls – Satik Parsamyan, Anna Tumanyan and Irina. Among the investigators Satik has recognized Marzpet Khachatryan, an investigator of Lori marz. All the other investigators according to her were from Yerevan. At night she was released but on Monday she was twice invited to the Prosecutor’s Office. Satik says that she hasn’t signed under fake statements but her colleagues did. “Prior to entering the room they started to curse me by saying – you whore, what have you heard or seen? There was a pack of statements on the table and a ruler. Marzpet Khachatryan told me, girl if you don’t sign these this ruler will… We will leave you all night together with prostitutes. They will degrade you all night,” says Satik. “They tell me to write a statement that Albert Ghazaryan did it (murdered the prosecutor). I told them I wasn’t on a duty that day. So I cannot write a statement. They were like no. You worked that day. You know everything and have to write. I could hear the voices of our staffer Ashot and other employees from the other room, who were crying when being beaten. I didn’t sign their statement but they told me they will make me do that anyway,” Satik was telling when talking to us on the phone. We’d like to remind you that the nephew of the mayor was taken to the Prosecutor’s Office last Thursday. Let’s also remember that the prosecutor’s office is investigating all the versions of Ghazaryan’s murder, which all relate to their professional activity. According to certain versions the murder may have been ordered by the mayor of Vanadzor, Samvel Darbinyan because the late prosecutor has prepared certain criminal charges against him. Most probably the mayor’s nephew was involved in this case based on this last version. Let’s mention that after the last Thursday’s search the police have found 4 bullets in Arman’s car, after which he was arrested by accusing him based on Article 235 of the Criminal Code of RA – “holding of illegal weapons.” Arman Darbinyan’s mother Narine insisted that they are trying to blame the murder on Arman and other Darbinyans but denies that her son had bullets in his vehicle. She claims that those rusted bullets were planted on Arman during the search by the police because according to Narine Darbinyan during the search the police have taken away the car keys from Arman. Most has suffered Karen Dodryan from among the employees of the Belissimo. After being beaten and tortured Dordyan was not released by the police thinking that he’s too misshaped to be out to his parents and media representatives. That’s why they put him in a car and took Karen to his relatives place in a village. Moreover the “Lori” TV company of Vanadzor has shot and broadcast the interview with the employees of the Belissimo, who have told the media how the police has treated them. Yesterday the Prosecutor’s Office demanded the tape of the interview from the TV company. Commenting on the allegations, a spokeswoman for the Office of the Prosecutor-General, Sona Truzyan, said, “The law-enforcement body can not investigate them without a formal complaint from the interrogated individuals. It’s strange that there are complaints, which are demonstrated through interviews to media instead of to the police. This gives us ground to doubt that these complaints are close to reality and that perhaps been instigated by some outside beneficiaries.” Michael Danielyan, director of Helsinki Human Right Organization, has also been in Vanadzor to speak to the witnesses. The latter confirmed that the employees of the Belissimo restaurant were beaten by the police. He didn’t tell us in detail how these people feel but promised to give detailed information about their state during today’s press conference. “I don’t find words to express what I have seen and heard,” says Danielyan. “In any case that is violation and abuse of human rights.” In Vanadzor the most circulated opinion is that they are trying to put the blame of the murder on Vanadzor mayor, Darbinyan. Of course, Vanadzor residents don’t have a very good opinion about their mayor, finding him an extremely corrupt official but don’t think that he’d be involved in a murder. Many of the residents of the city think that it’s most profitable for former NA deputy, Vahram Baghdasaryan to put the accusation on the mayor of Vanadzor. They say that Baghdasaryan had pretty tense relationships with Darbinyan. Now there is even an opinion that Baghdasaryan also has the back-up of the government. Shortly said the environment is pretty tense in Vanadzor. Even the most well-informed sources are not able to figure out what’s happening in their town and who puts cases against whom.
