The Russian federal services for veterinary and vegetables control have closed the import of Armenian meat products and vegetables to Russia. The reason is African plague found in Armenia. Ukraine has done the same too. The general veterinarian of the republic, Grisha Baghyan says that besides meat products and vegetables we cannot export cheese either. It is strange that the western countries have not made such decision in case they are more sensible to such issues. Besides Russia, Armenia also exports cheese to the U.S. The domestic producers have been able to enter this market in assistance of the U.S. state department CARD organization. Thus, there are two domestic companies exporting cheese to the U.S. The product of “Daughter Melanie” subsidiary of Tashir company is exported both to Russia and the U.S. The director of the company, Ruben Harutyunyan has told our correspondent that the U.S. have not officially prohibited the import of cheese despite the fact that it is not exported to that country at the current period. The export has been prohibited by the Armenian party.
