The lawyer of the former RA FM and co-founder of “Civic Disobedience” movement Alexander Arzumanyan, Hovik Arsenyan was called to the national security services office yesterday to be introduced to the motion to prolong the term of arrest for two months. This two-month term of Arzumanyan’s arrest will end on September 7. H. Arsenyan has told radio “Liberty” that the investigation group has explained that fact by saying that Armenian businessman residing in Moscow Sashik Aghazaryan approves the fact that he has transferred money to Arzumanyan and the investigation group has petitioned the public prosecutor’s office of the Russian Federation to find out whether Aghazaryan’s statement is true and then conduct testimonies to find out the legitimacy of Aghazaryan’s incomes and also whether he has paid his tax obligations. Hovik Arsenyan believes that this explanation is “baseless and funny”. The lawyer reminded that according to the accusations against Alexander Arzumanyan, on April 24-26 of 2007 former deputy minister of defense Vahan Shirkhanyan and he agreed with Armenian businessman residing in Moscow and being searched by the Police, Levon Markos, on legalizing illegal incomes and Aghazaryan’s name is not mentioned at all. In case the court satisfies this petition the lawyer will appeal that decision. To note, A. Arzumanyan was arrested on May 7.
