According to our information the rector of the Yerevan State Medical University, Gohar Kyalyan has an intention to privatize the laboratory building of the university.
This huge 7-storey building is located right next to the university from the side of Heratsi street. This is where the scientific center and several university departments are located. According to our information Mrs. Kyalyan is going to register the building as a damaged way in order to privatize it at a cheap price. Our sources claim that Mrs. Kyalyan will most probably deconstruct the building so that her husband builds an elite building instead. According to the media Kyalyan is the wife of the owner of H2 TV channel, Samvel Mayrapetyan, who together with RA President’s Chief of Staff, Armen Gevorgyan, are building elite buildings. Besides that, by the decision of the RA Government the Yerevan State Medical University controls the “Environmental scientific research institute”, located on Halabyan street. The director of this institute is Kyalyan’s father-in-law, Albert Mayrapetyan. Now Kyalyan has decided to move the staff of the scientific research center to that institute. Moreover, the building of the institute is an extremely unfavorable condition and according to our sources Mrs. Kyalyan is planning to repair it. As of the scientific research center they say that it is very stagnant and the whole staff has got nothing to do. The staff is afraid that Mrs. Kyalyan has done all this on purpose in order to later say that the research center doesn’t operate well and the staff is stagnant. So she would have a reason to close the research center. Let’s mention that once Kyalyan was appointed rector she has once liquidated the center. Afterwards she opened it by decreasing the work hours and salaries of the staff. Now it seems she is preparing for the second stage. The staff of the center doesn’t yet know what is going to happen to them, when they are going to move to the institute or whether they are going to work at all. We tried to receive information about these rumors from Mrs. Kyalyan but all our efforts went in vain. She was always out and her cell phone was turned off. We only succeeded in receiving a little information about the condition of the building and the moving of the staff from the pro-rector of the scientific sector of the university, Boris Khudaverdyan. “No, there is nothing like that, it’s a decent building,” told us Khudaverdyan on the phone. Khudaverdyan, however, said that they have an intention to move the research center of the university to the scientific institute. “But there are many logistical issues to be solved,” said the pro-rector. In that case it will turn out that half of the university will be located in Kentron and the other half in Ajapnyak communities. It’s clear that the activity of the research center will not be fertile if it even exists. “What’s so bad about the fact that the university is expanding,” answered Khudaverdyan by asking his own question. Of course it would be very good if Kyalyan answered our questions.
In the end we’d like to inform that according to the citizens, who have called us Mrs. Kyalyan has already given the first floor of the laboratory for rent to a construction firm, which conducts constructing activities in the territory of the university.
