Historical decision

01/09/2007

License #60, which limits the freedoms in the communication market of Armenia and gives a monopoly right to “Armentel”, will be revoked on October 1. Yesterday the RA Public Services Regulatory Commission made a decision to revoke Armentel’s all rights for monopoly. “This is a historical decision for the RA”, said the chair of CRPC, Robert Nazaryan, the director of Armentel company, Oleg Briznyuk, and the representatives of non-governmental organizations. However, in fact the real monopoly on the part of Armentel, i.e. its dominant umbrella in the field of stationary telephone communication still exists since no company will undertake to create new wire networks for stabile telephone communication.
