“My innocence will be proved”

18/07/2007

Hovik Arsenyan, who is the attorney of former RA Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Arzumanyan [arrested two months ago for “money-laundering”], told “Liberty” radio that he “knows for sure” that Sashik Aghazaryan was interrogated in Moscow and affirmed his announcement in the press, according to which he had sent money to his friend Alexander Arzumanyan on the request of the latter.

“It became clear that the money was sent not by another Armenian businessman, Levon Marcos, citizen of the Russian Federation, but rather Sashik Aghazaryan himself,” said Arsenyan.

According to the attorney, Arzumanyan has been prosecuted four times after his arrest on May 7. During the last prosecution, and the prosecution before that, Arzumanyan refused to give testimony. During the prosecutions before that, Arzumanyan had simply advised the preliminary investigation body to prosecute Sashik Aghazaryan, an Armenian businessman living in Moscow, adding:

“You will see that my innocence will be established.”
