According to one of the latest resolutions passed by the government, 180 million drams have been allotted to Writers’ Union of Armenia (WUA) for the renovation of the building. The building, located on 3 Baghramyan street, is on the list of historical monuments. According to president of WUA, Levon Ananyan, the money will first and foremost be used to remodel the building restroom, the roof and hall, and the heating and lighting issues will also be solved. Let us inform that a rather large amount of territories belonging to the four-story building have been allotted to different organizations for rent. The basement floors of the building are rented by the ‘Navzike” café and a restaurant. Taking into account the prices for renting territories in the heart of Yerevan, the WUA building could have been renovated a couple of times. Let us also recall that the WUA pan-Armenian marathon took place in the winter at the WUA, which as a result collected 140,000 dollars. Besides that, it is clear that the president of the Armenian World Congress, Ara Abrahamyan, has good ties with Levon Ananyan, and Abrahamyan frequently sends a lot of money to the WUA. As to what Ananyan does with that foreign money is not evident, since we already mentioned that the building is going through remodeling through budget funding. According to our sources, the WUA is getting ready to sell its vacation resort in Sevan, just like it sold the polyclinic of dentistry.
