Child’s body found

15/07/2007

Yesterday the body of Robert Simonyan, aged 12, who disappeared in Gyumri on May 20, was found. The child’s body was found in a house 50 meters from their home, where no one had lived during the recent several years. The neighbors saw that the window of the house was broken. It is worth mentioning that the police investigated that territory several times after the child had disappeared. Thus, it is not ruled out that the murdered child’s body was brought there just recently. To note, the child disappeared after the shootout in Gyumri on May 20, which was done by the mayor’s son, Spartak Ghukasyan, the PA regional headquarter chief’s son, Rustam Sargsyan and others. At that time, a version of the crime was being discussed that the child might have become a victim of the shootout and the criminals had hidden him to escape from any difficulties. The conditions in which the child’s body was found don’t refute the previous version, and the question of why the child’s body was found just recently. Yesterday at 10:45 PM the child’s body had not yet been taken out of the house; they were waiting for the police to arrive from Yerevan.
