Yesterday the U.S. chargé d’affaires in Armenia, Anthony Godfrey, gave a hint that should be considered by the authorities in a due manner. Thus, Godfrey said that the U.S. is concerned about the development of relations between Iran and Armenia. “We have expressed our concerns in this matter to the government of Armenia,” he said, and added that the U.S. appreciates the fact that the energy cooperation between Iran and Armenia is in the open. Godfrey also said that they appreciated the fact that the Armenian government informs in advance about the programs to be implemented. However, in his words, the U.S. petitions the Armenian government to help the U.S. and international community to persuade Iran to fulfill its international obligations. He also reminded that during the last 16 years the U.S. provided $1.6 billion for Armenian programs, and currently is helping it too. He said that all the American programs implemented in Armenia are effective, and the results are the recent improved parliamentary elections, increase of security and defense, and the economic development.
