Won’t there be empty halls?

National Assembly Republican faction secretary Samvel Nikoyan is sure that there will not be any half-empty halls in the newly formed parliament. In addition, he is certain that the entrance of the new parties (“Heritage” and “Prosperous Armenia”) in parliament will essentially change the image of parliament because the parliament now has “parliamentarians with experience”, as well as “people with life histories”.

During the press conference held on Monday, “Heritage” deputy Vardan Khachatryan mentioned that they are going to “presenting” a list of issues of public significance, and separated the issue concerning the dollar-dram exchange rates. Despite that, however, according to Khachatryan, his party is not of the opinion that it will be able to solve all of the issues with only seven deputy mandates.

“However, the issue facing the oppositional parliamentary party is for that party to be able to the “translator” of the public and the oppositional parties out of parliament,” said Khachatryan. As for “Heritage” boycotting the first session of the National Assembly, Khachatryan said that besides the fact that the Constitutional Court had not essentially debated the validity of the election results, there was also a second factor.

“It can not be allowed not to notify the day of the session. There were different dates printed in the presses.”

In response to that, the Republican faction secretary said that that issue is regulated not by a notification, rather by the Armenian Constitution.

“During that period, apparently, there is no body that has the right to do that,” announced Nikoyan.
