“The past four years were the most effective for Armenia and were known for the effective reforms and unprecedented economic growth, which provided the opportunity to solve essential issues in the social sector,” announced RA president Robert Kocharyan during the last session of the existing government of Armenia (according to the RA Constitution, the government must resign on the first session of the National Assembly, after which a new prime minister will be appointed within ten days and a new government will be formed within 20 days).
“The recent elections also showed that we are ready to achieve success in democratization. All members of this government contribute to this and can be proud of that,” Robert Kocharyan said on Wednesday, adding: “Of course, the successes in different fields are not equal, and the feeling of pride of different ministers must be at different levels.” Kocharyan underlined the essential contribution of the late prime minister, Andranik Margaryan. Kocharyan also mentioned that “the amount and depth of reforms were not as much as preferred in different sectors”.
“The improvement of living standards was not commensurate in the entire territory of Armenia. I think that these are the problems that the next government must be in charge of,” said Kocharyan and added: “I have no doubt that the next government is also going to work effectively and our country has all the prerequisites for stable development. It is evident that the government is going to have an impressive majority in parliament, the support which will give the opportunity to govern the country more actively and implement more active reforms in different sectors.”
Robert Kocharyan expressed his gratitude to the members of government for the effective cooperation and said:
“Some of you are going to continue working in the executive branch and some of you will go to parliament, and I am certain that your acquired knowledge and your experience will be very useful for working in the legislative branch.”
