According to our information, the regular work of the Caucasus-Poti ferryboat that is intended for transporting Armenian cargo will be delayed. The reason is the fact that they haven’t yet defined the prices for the shipping services. Besides that, Armenia still has a number of documental disagreements with that company. The owners of the ferryboat want to set high prices despite the fact that Khakim Matchanov, who is also an owner, said in Yerevan, in April, that their ferryboat would transport Armenian cargo at significantly lower prices. To note, two months ago the minister of transport and communication and Khakim Matchanov gladly announced about the ferryboat constructed by “Reserve Capital Corporation”, which is capable of carrying 50 wagons. The ferryboat was tested for performance one month ago. A delegation from Armenia that consisted of a number of officials and businessmen left for Poti to see the ferryboat there. Several days ago the ferryboat carried cargo for the first time (five electric trains imported by “Yerevan Railway”) from Caucasus harbor to Poti. It was expected that the ferryboat would start carrying cargo very soon, but our sources of information say that the parties still need much time to negotiate on the disagreements they have.
