Azaryan is an “adventurer”

On Wednesday, representative of the “Artarutyun” alliance of the CEC, Felix Khachatryan, qualified head of the CEC, Garegin Azaryan, as an “adventurer”. Referring to the announcement made by Azaryan according to which he had received a call from the People’s Party of Armenia saying that Khachatryan has been in the “Artarutyun” election list in 2003 and was illegally appointed a member of the CEC, Khachatryan announced that Azaryan has read the 34th article of the Armenian Electoral Code, but hasn’t read the 41st and 111th articles; the Code is logical and articles cannot be examined separately. Khachatryan reminded Azaryan that he is a member of the CEC and was appointed in August when there could not have been any impact on list, the party or the election results. If Mr. Azaryan accepts as a basis the requirement of the Code according to which the person included in the list doesn’t have the right to be a member of the CEC, then Azaryan, according to Khachatryan, should have received calls from the “United Labor Party” and the Armenian Republican Party. Khachatryan recalled that ULP representative in the CEC, Sevak Arakelyan, filed an application and rejected his deputy mandate when it was his turn to enter parliament. There are ULP members that are in the PEC and the same goes for the Republican Party.

“Abraham Bakhchagulyan was 52nd on the Republican Party list. So, what? Did they violate the law too? No. That was extensive, massive… and it is legal,” said Khachatryan.
