They beat Shahen Petrosyan

09/05/2007

On the evening of May 3, Armenian National Movement member and former head of the Armenian Civil Aviation administration Shahen Petrosyan was at the “Stop” rock club with a couple of close friends. Petrosyan told “168 Hours” that he had said during a discussion that it would be nice if Gagik Tsarukyan’s photograph was posted on the Opera building façade. While talking about Tsarukyan, he mentioned his nickname, after which a couple of “shaved heads” approached him, got into an argument, and forced him to leave the club. Petrosyan offered to meet with them the next day because he was a little drunk and he was with a couple of friends. Rejecting his offer, at around 10:00 p.m. 7-8 people and that many “Jeeps” abducted Petrosyan and took him to an unknown location. They beat him severely, and when Petrosyan opened his eyes, he saw that he was in a deserted territory. Rumor has it that the event took place in the Nork area, near the end of the road. Petrosyan was severely beaten, has broken ribs, bruises all over his body, and has difficulty speaking. He only said that if somebody had not called (he didn’t mention who), they could have killed him. “I would have been dead by now,” he said.
