Yesterday president Kocharyan introduced the newly appointed defense minister, Michael Harutyunyan. He said that Harutyunyan had actively been involved in the army structure since its foundation. President Kocharyan said that his experience in the Armenian army, and 40 years experience in military service, will serve best in continuing the policy of the improvement and development of the armed forces. He says the fact that the president, prime minister, and the newly appointed defense minister are connected with the army shows that the government will continue keeping the army in its focus in the future too. President Kocharyan thanked prime minister Serge Sargsyan for his huge work in the army structure, targeted to its strengthening, and wished good luck to the newly-appointed defense minister in his work.
