Once Hrant Dink said in an interview, “In the past we had to communicate all that we had to say to the Turkish officials in letters or envelopes, now we should talk not only to them, but to the Turkish people too. Furthermore, we could talk to them through the media and in their language.” He believed that one day Turkey would have to recognize the fact of the Armenian Genocide due to international pressure, but he thought that “it would not change the Turkish way of thinking much”. Hrant Dink thought that recognizing the Armenian Genocide would not make Turkey democratic. He believed that Turkey should become democratic and the demand of their democracy should be recognizing the Armenian Genocide and the rights of Armenians. “Recognizing the Genocide of 1915 by a non-democratic Turkey will not give much to Armenians,” said Hrant Dink, who was killed on January 19 in Turkey for his words about the Genocide. Today it is the 92nd year since the Genocide, and alas we have to put one more flower on the Genocide victim memorial monument when visiting the “Tsitsernakaberd” memorial monument to respect the memory of the victims.
