RA general prosecutor Aghvan Hovsepyan, in his interview given to “Azatutyun” radio station, has answered the accusations of former candidate of Precinct 19 and exiting NA deputy Hakob Hakobyan claiming that most of the murders and political crimes are covered up by the general prosecutor.
“You know that Aghvan Hovsepyan can make anyone write what he wants and do whatever he wants… He is the enemy number one of our state that hides serious political crimes. He can talk to someone and at once prove that this person has stolen, or committed other crimes. He is the key actor of many political murders and crimes; the others are doing and he is covering things up and closing the cases,” said Hakob Hakobyan to “Azatutyun” radio station. Answering Hakobyan’s accusations, Hovsepyan said “Our society knows already what lies in the basement of Hakob Hakobyan’s logic and estimations. The prosecutor’s office is ready to give all the necessary information concerning Hakobyan and the accusations against him to any domestic or international monitoring missions and institutions.” Answering a question as to why Hakobyan’s case is being conducted in court now, despite the fact that many of the supposed crimes were committed at the end of the 90s, A. Hovsepyan said, “Being the general prosecutor, I have been considering those cases since 1999. We could only finalize all the facts and accusations last year and provide the necessary legal ground for criminal proceedings, thus we sent the case to court.” Answering the correspondent’s question as to why the case is being sent to the court so late, the general prosecutor said “Certainly we had some difficulties when investigating this case, but we will overcome them eventually.”
