Anthony Godfrey, the U.S. charge d’affairs in Armenia, has told “ARKA” news agency that he hopes the recent attempt to kill the mayor of Gyumri, Vardan Ghukasyan, will not have any influence on the pre-election environment in Armenia. He said that he had talked to high-ranking police officials, who assured him the investigation ongoing and would be done in the correct manner. Godfrey said that the U.S. hopes to continue effective cooperation with Armenia. He said that after the death of prime minister Andranik Margaryan, they talked to the leaders of ARP. “We expect that our cooperation with them will continue,” Godfrey concluded.
