Your slogan says it all

The political parties participating in the parliamentary elections to be held on May 12 already have their slogans. Almost all the political parties registered at the Central Election Commission have decided with what slogans they will attract the people in order to get their votes.

It is already clear that this time the Armenian Republican Party has decided not to use the slogan “Let’s rely on our mind and strength”, rather the more melodious “For you, Armenia”. So, people will be able to spot the Republican Party’s billboards with this slogan. It turns out that the next pro-government “Prosperous Armenia” political party has more than 30 slogans. The party is going to use all of them, and as press service correspondent of the party Baghdasar Mheryan told “ArmenPress”, each of those slogans are going to be aimed at a certain level of society and judging from this we may predict that Armenian society is divided into 30 levels. Thus, the main slogans of the “Prosperous Armenia” party are the following: “Let’s build a prosperous country together”, “The Strong have to be Fair, the Weak have to be Defended”, “Rebirth of the village, Prosperous Armenia” “Care and Respect towards the Elderly”, “Live with Dignity and Prosperity”, “Equal Development of the Community”, “One team, One goal: Prosperous Armenia”, etc.

Mheryan also mentioned that the political party will present its plans during public meetings and will take advantage of the opportunities on television, radio, the press, and advertisement. Mheryan also announced that the political party administration still has not decided on the issue concerning paid airtime because, according to him, the party fund does not have enough means considering the proposed bargain prices.

As for the ARF, as we had already mentioned, the political party has chosen the slogan “Our old friend is the Dashnaktsutiun” which, as leader of the ARF faction Hrair Karapetyan announced, comes from the old, friendly aphorism “Old friends don’t betray” of the ARF. The ARF correspondents informed “ArmenPress” that the Dashnaktsutiun will take advantage of free airtime and if the campaign struggle requires them to use more opportunities they will also pay for airtime. Dashnaktsutiun’s regional structures have turned into pre-election headquarters. Those headquarters are actively preparing for the campaign which is going to be based on the socialist ideology of the political party and will be an account of the party’s activities in the legislative and executive bodies.

The “Dashink” party will participate in the elections with the slogan “Power and Unity”. Member of the political party council Gnel Ghlechyan told “ArmenPress” that “Dashink” is “ready” for the campaign struggle and the party is currently occupied with donations and collecting the first month’s membership fees. According to Ghlechyan, the amount collected from the membership fees will determine how much the party will pay for airtime.

Opposition parties have already decided their slogans for the campaign. For example, the “New Times” political party has decided to use its party’s name as the slogan. “New Times” will also have a couple of slogans, such as “New Times, New Armenia”, “We are talking by facts”. The political party is going to keep its main slogan “State and Progress” during these elections and the members have assured that currently they are not having negotiations with the television stations on airtime pricing.

The Armenian Popular Party has two slogans: “Principle and Dignity” and “Principles are Values”. The slogan of the “Heritage” political party will be “Faith and the Homeland”. “National Unity” will participate in the elections with its “Let’s save the Homeland by Uniting”. Deputy leader of the party and head of the pre-election headquarters Alexan Karapetyan reaffirmed the party’s decision to not pay for airtime. They have already begun printing their anti-crisis plan, booklets and posters.
Shavarsh Kocharyan’s “National Democratic Party” will participate with the slogan “Fair government, educated society, earned prosperity”.
