The chairman of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Sergey Mironov, petitioned to make changes in the Constitution, which would enable president Putin to run for a third term. According to Russian news agencies, Mironov said that the limitation to be elected president should be amended, and as well the tenure period should be extended to at least five years.
