The Holy Cross church of the Akhtamar island of Van was inaugurated on March 29 after its reconstruction. The church, which was constructed in the 10th century, was reconstructed through the efforts of the Turkish government. The Holy Cross church currently lacks a cross, but it is not ruled out that a cross will be placed on the dome. The speaker of the Turkish Foreign Ministry has declared that Armenians will probably have the opportunity to conduct religious rituals at least once a year in the church-turned-museum.
