The recent statement of the U.S. Department of State reading that “Armenia continues keeping the territories of Azerbaijan, i.e. the seven regions and as well as the territory of Karbakh occupied” is a result of fiasco in the Armenian foreign affairs.
This is a consequence of a poor and emotional foreign policy, due to which Кarabakh was left out of the process of negotiations, as a result of which the international community started accepting the issue of Karabakh as a conflict for territories between Armenia and Azerbaijan, thus Armenia was left out of many regional processes. Emotion is very important for example in a family, but not in politics. Emotional policy may be very dangerous. It is wrong to say that these facts were not predictable; far ten years ago there were people that warned us about it. As for our diplomats, instead of accepting their failure and trying to find a solution they are announcing that “it was a mistake”. This is not the first time; each time they lose in diplomacy the foreign affairs minister says that there were mistakes such as wrong translation, etc. We should confess that it is our bad that we haven’t complained and criticized them for their failures, it is our bad that we haven’t argued them to resign after each of their failures. The reason why they always try to justify their policy by using the word “mistake” is the fact that we haven’t paid a due attention to those failures and were indifferent. People are still indifferent even after the fact that the Americans explained that there weren’t any mistakes in their report. As for the opposition, they are sitting somewhere with the mouths shut; definitely Arthur Baghdasaryan is preparing an article for an European paper where the territory of Karabakh is represented as a conflicting territory, Artashes Geghamyan is reading books to be clever enough to unite the nation and Stepan Demirchyan is figuring out what to do and how to do. In other words, all they are busy with arrangements to be elected in the parliament. As for the other issues, they don’t care about Karabakh and our future at all.
