“There are many candidates in Nagorno-Karabakh who deserve to be president. However, if there are deserving candidates in Armenia, then they can also be nominated. The field is open in Karabakh and anyone can participate in the elections, if, of course, that does not go against the law,” said President of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh Arkadi Ghukasyan on Monday after his meeting with French co-president of the OSCE Minsk Group Bernar Fassie. Ghukasyan emphasized once again that he will not run for president of Nagorno-Karabakh for the third time and said that he would stay in Nagorno-Karabakh after the presidential elections.
“I consider this a decision that has already been made for the next couple of years. I suppose that Nagorno-Karabakh will still need my help and support and maybe not. It will be very difficult to immediately leave the big political field. I must pass my experience on to the next president and government of Nagorno-Karabakh”.
In fact, inter-political activists are already spreading rumors that it is already determined who the next president of Nagorno-Karabakh will be. Rumor has it that Armenian President Robert Kocharyan sees Arthur Aghabekyan as the next president who, as is known, is 10th on the proportional list of the Dashnaktsutiun for the upcoming Armenian parliamentary elections.
