Volkan K., 19, who was arrested because of firing a gun in the yard of St. Mary Church of Istanbul, announced that he went to the church to kill the Patriarch of Turkish-Armenians, Mesrop B. Mutafyan. According to “Zaman” newspaper of Turkey the police has arrested two suspects, Volkan K. and Ylmaz Jan O. for threatening the society and carrying a illegal guns. A court suit was filed against the two and now they are in jail. Volkan said that he went to the church to meet Mesrop B to talk and then shoot him with a gun but he got confused and fired in the air when the religious servant noticed his gun. Ylmaz said that he went to the church to help Volkan as the latter said he want to borrow some money. Ylmaz promised to give him 1500 NTL (about $1000).
