Prime Minister Andranik Markaryan had this to say when journalists recalled that the opposition affirms that the elections will not be free and fair during a Wednesday press conference:
“They have been affirming that since 1991 regardless of who the opposition is. I have also been part of the opposition and we affirmed too.”
According to Markaryan, the authorities are going to try to do everything they can to conduct normal elections so that the people won’t accuse them of not fulfilling their duties.
“We call on the political powers in order to maintain the rules of the game. The powers have to make more moral, political agreements instead of trying to make other political parties maintain the rules of the game through administrative connections. After elections, there is always one side that complains and starts bringing up the other side’s abuses as reasons for failure or the ambitions that that side didn’t reach. This happens around the world,” said A. Markaryan.
