Start of compensation

The HSBC Bank Armenia has started paying the compensation to the inheritors of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The U.S.-based “New York Life Insurance” company is in charge of providing the money and that’s where the victims of the Armenian Genocide had been insured at the time. There are 1253 Armenians inheritors from Yerevan and the regions of Armenia on the lists. The so-called “Board of the Reconciliation Fund” and the money is provided by the “New York Life Insurance” company. The so-called Settlement Fund Board has entrusted the HSBC Bank to provide the money and as the bank correspondents told “Liberty” radio, the payments are made based on the confirmed lists and validated letters. No payment will be made without those letters. “Applicants must personally show up. Unfortunately, there are cases when the son or daughter wants to receive the compensation. However, in times like those, we have the right to give the money to them only if they present a will or authorization confirmed by the notary,” said manager of the HSBC Bank customer service department Suren Zohrabyan.
