The government of Azerbaijan is going to stop broadcasting two Russian channels; the First Russian channel and “Rossia” channel. The government has decided to stop broadcasting two Turkish channels as well. According to the head of the Azeri Radio and TV department, Nushirvan Maheramli, the purpose of the mentioned decision is to support the domestic companies develop.

“There is no political reason” he said and added that the mentioned channels will be broadcasted by satellite and wire networks for low prices. He also said that all the countries have experienced that problem and there isn’t anything dangerous in it. On December 28 the Azeri government will inform concrete details about the dates for stopping broadcasting the Russian and Turkish channels.
