The recent interview and predictions of the president of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan concerning the existing political system in Armenia and the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections are interpreted differently. In spite of the fact that almost everyone thinks that the “political giants” will enter the parliament easily, the president’s view concerning the ULP was surprising. It is not excluded that the fact that the president spoke about that party is just a part of a political game. In this framework a very interesting version is spoken, according to which the ULP is a “reserve player” for the president, thus if they don’t find any good solutions, at least Justice minister David Harutyunyan will join that party and act as a “reserve player”. As for David Harutyunyan, this year he has said that he might be involved in politics actively. It was spoken that David Harutyunyan, being backed by the president might join “Prosperous Armenia” party and become one of its leaders. Now it is spoken that Gagik Tsarukyan does not agree with that idea and has told about this to the president and said that he would not agree to involve David Harutyunyan in his party. Anyway, there aren’t such problems in the ULP and the parties, being backed by the president, may come to a good agreement for all of them.
