Yesterday by the verdict of the Court of Cassation three young people – Razmik Sargsyan, Musa Serobyan and Arayik Zalyan, who were arrested in April 2004, were set free from the penitentiary of Noubarashen. Let’s remember that they were accused of the murder of the soldiers murdered in the same military regiment, where they served. The Court of first Instance sentenced the young boys to 15 years of imprisonment and the Court of Cassation to life imprisonment.
It’s not excluded that the boys were set free in the result of political decision. Otherwise it’s hard to think why the three judiciary instances made controversial decisions. It’s obvious that in any legal state these verdicts would have serious consequences (including political) and the officials involved in this case would have problems with the judiciary themselves.
