Iran-Armenia pipeline in 2008

23/12/2006

According to “Arminfo”, RA energy minister Armen Movsisyan has said that the second part of Iran-Armenia gas pipeline (Kajaran-Yerevan) will be operated by the end of the first part of 2008. The minister said that those works will be coordinated mainly with the help of ARG. The mentioned company has already dig a hole line (10 km) and is going to start allocating the tubes and lines next year. The construction of the second part of the pipeline will enable to increase the gas supply capacity up to 2,5 billion cm per year. The minister said that without re-constructing and widening the first part of the pipeline (Meghri-Kajaran part, which will be operated by the end of 2006) Armenia can import only 300-400 million cm natural gas, which is not enough for covering the domestic demand.
