The extra news and promises to come to terms aren’t really helping to resolve the Karabakh conflict. This is what Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in Brussels a couple of days ago, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. Lavrov recalled that Armenia and Azerbaijan are the two sides involved in resolving the conflict and they are backed by the co-chairman countries of the OSCE Minsk Group-Russia, the U.S. and France.
“The work being done is rather tactful. The co-chairmen base everything on the willingness of the sides to progress and resolve the conflict. It all depends on the meetings, which the presidents and foreign ministers hold with support from the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen,” said Lavrov. He added that an announcement was made regarding the Karabakh conflict resolution during the Brussels Foreign Ministers’ board meeting. The announcement defends the current format of the conflict resolution, which is acceptable both by Armenia and Azerbaijan.
