Yesterday “Alternative” civic-political initiative made a statement writing the following: “Replacement of the existing authorities must be done basing on clear and concrete programs, responsibilities and agreement by the society, regardless the methods how it can be done. Otherwise, the other governments can do the same faults after replacing this one”. Yesterday the initiators of “Alternative” movement (chief-editor of “Haykakan Jamanak” newspaper Nikol Pashinyan, political scientist Aghasi Enokyan and head of “Democratic Fatherland” party Petros Makeyan) organized a press-conference in “Yerevan” hotel, where they said that it is very easy to point out problems and failures, but it is very difficult to find solutions and propose concrete programs and methods how those problems can be worked out. According to them, only those oppositional powers are real oppositionists, which can propose new programs that can be an alternative to the policy of the existing authorities.
The initiators of the “Alternative” think that there are three ways how it can be done, however they prefer the third method. First, they think that the upcoming elections of 2007 may be violated like the Constitutional referendum of 2005, which may bring to stagnation. Second, people may try to prevent violations, but the authorities may press and stop them like they did in 2004. Third, they think that the best solution is organizing rallies in the future and empowering people. The “Alternative” has stated that they have chosen the third version and informed that they are going to organize rallies starting from February 20. The mentioned people that organized a press conference said that their goal was not winning places during the upcoming elections, but, as their statement writes, “their goal is to stop the environment of unclearness towards the future, create conditions for citizens to have honorable future and for this purpose they are ready to reach their goal by all means”.
