Speaks Garnik Isagulyan

Based on the general National Strategy all the ministries of RA have presented their own viewpoints and charts about the Strategy. If supposedly the National Security Strategy is an open document then the documents presented by ministries may be somewhat “closed” ones and are not subject of publication. This information was provided by the National Security Advisor of the President of RA, Garnik Isagulyan in “Urbat” club. “Serj Sargsyan made a speech in front of high-level officers and we put this document among the documents of the National Security Strategy. Somebody had to initiate this. A lot of people speak a lot but hardly anyone would take the risk to propose a document and receive criticism. But to the honor of our Defense Minister he did it,” said Isagulyan. And when the journalists asked whether it was expedient for Sargsyan to take the responsibility of the document on his own meanwhile being Defense Minister, Secretary of security council, chairman of Armenia-Russian intergovernmental committee, chair of the chess federation, director of the YSU board, chairman of the RPA board, Isagulyan answered, “We should welcome his decision because whenever he submits a responsibility for something we have tangible and productive results.” To the question whether it’s possible that once Sargsyan becomes the chair of the soccer federation, our national team achieves the European Championship title Isagulyan answered, “We don’t have such an objective in our agenda.” As known Isagulyan had already had an occasion to announce that Serj Sargsyan is the most relevant candidate for presidency in the coming presidential elections. To the question what will happen to Armenia if Sargsyan suddenly doesn’t become president, Isagulyan answered, “Let’s not run the time and draw rushing conclusions. Let’s wait, time will show. I don’t see any tragedy here.”

Yesterday Isagulyan also expressed his confidence that Robert Kocharyan’s role in Armenia’s political life will be essential even after the Presidential elections 2008. When speaking about the anti-criminal movement, the president’s adviser said that he’s not aware of the publications of the movement. “I wish they spoke about things, which would be based on facts and also to know, who the members of the movement are. Maybe they have their own problems in criminal life. And then we’ll find out who’s more moral to speak about reducing criminality,” mentioned Isagulyan. In his words, unfortunately our politicians make so many irresponsible announcements that “if we start to analyze those it will mean that we have nothing else to do.” He also said that the fact that the oppositionists announce that the referendum was falsified is a lie. According to him, in the political field there are only three forces, which succeeded in formulating their policies and follow those. Those parties are the ARF, RPA and ANM. Does this mean that Isagulyan doesn’t consider the “National Security” Party, headed by him, non-ideological? “We cannot brag with our branch offices and other resources and cannot compare with more powerful parties. In order to understand whether our party is an ideological one or not you may take a look at our party platform, which is clearly formulated. Besides that we are trying to be modestly silent about ourselves in the specific aspect,” modestly answered Isagulyan.
