Despite the Armenian public opinion, according to which the only thing that the majority of NGOs in Armenia do is get grants, dean of the Sociology department of the Yerevan State University and leader of the “Dignity” party Lyudmila Harutyunyan believes that NGOs play a major role in stabilizing society and solving social issues.
“The power of the NGOs is mainly in the hands of women; the women who were afraid to enter the political field and are now doing many things,” says L. Harutyunyan.
Harutyunyan also said that she still doesn’t know whether or not her party will take part in the upcoming Armenian parliamentary elections.
