Phony betrayal

The Investigative department of the General Prosecutor’s office has completed the legal proceedings connected to the case of the murder of former head of operative investigative department of the State Taxation Services Shahen Hovasapyan based on the fact of the phony betrayal. According to the statement of the prosecutor’s office, the legal proceedings have clarified and proved that Armenian citizen and plenipotentiary officer of the Davitashen police division Gevorgyan had committed a phony betrayal with the purpose of getting revenge of S. Arsenyan and had accused Zh. Hayrapetyan of killing Shahen Hovasapyan. “Gevorgyan had made an agreement beforehand with one of his acquaintances, deputy head of the passing point of border forces of Bagratashen A. Melikyan, had written an unsigned letter and report in order to turn that in to someone who was competent of bringing up a case, in which he had stated that explosives had been purchased to murder Hovasapyan,” as stated in the statement. According to the prosecutors, Gevorgyan has personally dropped the phony betrayal letter in the mailbox of the Italian Embassy of Armenia, while Melikyan has added phony information in his report to the higher bodies regarding the mentioned source of information. Based on the proofs of the proceedings, Gevorgyan has been accused.
