Democrats win in the U.S.

The Republicans and Democrats were fighting for the 101 seats-33 seats in the Senate and 435 in the House of Representatives. Besides those elections, governor elections took place in 36 states and thousands of legislators were elected in the state parliamentary elections. Based on the results of the elections, the Democrats formed a majority in the House of Representatives with 227 mandates, compared to the 195 mandates for the Republicans. A day before the victory, the Democrats that won in the House of Representatives were unknown. The situation is tenser in the Senate. The Democrats are also very close to forming a majority in the Senate. In general, the 100 Senators of the U.S. are elected based on the principle of two representatives from each state. The 101st Senator is considered the vice-president of the U.S. and the president of the Senate. Based on the results of the elections, we get the following: Bush’s Republican party has 49 representatives in the Senate and the Democrats have 49 representatives. IT was still unclear as to who would fill in the next two places, but it’s quite possible that they will be Democrats. The thing is that after a 100% estimation, the Democrat candidate of the state of Virginia won the Republican candidate by 8.2 thousand votes, but according to the current law, if there is a 1% difference between the votes of the candidates, the losing side has the right to demand a recalculation of votes, which in this case is kind of uncertain. It’s even more mixed up in Montana where the Democrat Senator candidate has more votes than the Republican candidate, but the Democrat exceeds his opponent by 1.7 votes. What we have is an interesting situation: although at this point the Democrats and Republicans each have 49 seats, however the Democrats have to win in Montana and Virginia (which they are very close to doing) in order to have a majority in the Senate and it’s enough to get enough votes in at least one of the states to win the Republicans. The explanation for this is the U.S. law, according to which the 101st Senator is officially the U.S. vice-president, who in this case is Dick Cheney and only has the right to vote when the two parties of the Senate have the equal number of votes-50 each. In fact, after her victory in New York, the wife of former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, was reelected as Senator and is considered to be the principal Democrat candidate for the next presidential elections. It’s worth mentioning that after the Democrats’ victory in the House of Representatives, it’s expected that female Democrat Nancy Polosi will become the president of the House of Representatives. Senator Menendez was also reelected; Menendez had stopped the process of appointing the new U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Hoagland. Voter participation was low this year-nearly 40%. The Democrats also won in the state governor elections. Republican governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger was reelected. Surveys show that the victory of the Democrats is due to the fact that many people simply voted against the Republicans and not for the Democrats. 47% of those who voted against the Republicans explained their role by saying that corruption has increased during the years while Republicans were in power; 41% complain about U.S. economy: Nearly 37% that voted against the Republicans reasoned that they were against the U.S. invading Iraq. Let’s mention the fact that if the Democrats win the fight for the two remaining seats for the Senate and have a majority both in the Senate and the House of Representatives, then they can and will raise the issue of U.S. President George Bush’s impeachment.
