“You signed the ceasefire agreement. Will you sign the peace agreement as well?” Defense Minister of Armenia Serge Sargsyan in response to that question: “I think that the president can do that.” In response to another question as to whether he would be that president to sign it, the defense minister said, “I don’t know. If you help us make sure that the 2007 parliamentary elections are free, fair, transparent and democratic, we will make our decision”.
The head of the Armenian-Russian inter-governmental commission Serge Sargsyan also said that Armenia had not given the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline to anyone. “I assure you that we haven’t given the Iran-Armenia gas pipeline to anyone. There is no document saying that”, said Serge Sargsyan and added that he would ask head of the “ArmRusGazard” company to inform details about the issue.
