“I could have done that in my kitchen”

Nowadays many people are talking about the need to be devout. Beloved actor Armen Jigarkhanyan, who has been invited to Yerevan with the purpose of celebrating his anniversary and presenting his theatre, knows the price of the good word.

“It’s not important what you say, but how you live your life.” He often says: “I’m not a philosopher; I’m your average clown. Don’t compare me with Charles Aznavour. I can’t do what he does because I don’t have that talent. I’m certain that there is a talent for feeling a sense of responsibility. I don’t have that talent and a couple of years ago they wanted to “put” me in the Duma. But what was I supposed to do there when everyone is just sitting and doing nothing?” says Armen Jigarkhanyan.

Years ago, former President of the USSR Gorbachev invited A. Jigarkhanyan to join the debate between Armenian and Azerbaijani delegations. During a press conference, Jigarkhanyan remembered that and talked about the danger of mixing work and personal life. “What was I supposed to say about Armenian-Azerbaijani relations? I could have only said “dirty” things about the Azerbaijani. But I could have done that in my own kitchen, meanwhile, you must have a talent for being useful,” says the actor.
