Hakob Hakobyan is arrested

National Assembly MP Raffik Petrosyan elected from the proportional list at the #26 poll of Etchmiadzin was recently arrested. Based on the message of the police, the deputy had participated in a “hooligan crime with the use of weapons” and the warning was given at the Masis police subdivision. President of the “Full Contact of Armenia” federation that functions in the Kaian territory Hayk Vartanyan, one of the trainers of the federation Edgar Poghosyan and Hakobyan’s driver Seryozha Barseghyan were transferred to the hospital with physical injuries. A “Winchester” gun was found and confiscated at the scene of the crime. A case has been brought up at the Ararat regional prosecution and the legal proceedings are taking place at the investigative department of the Chief Prosecution of Armenia. The deputy is currently at the “Yerevan-Central” jail. According to the chief prosecution of Armenia, “on October 8 at 6:00 p.m., Hakob Hakobyan and his bodyguards committed a hooligan violent act with the use of weapons at the “ArmRusGazard” joint-stock company gas distributive station in the village of Hayanist in the Ararat region, after which the people working at the gas stations belonging to Hakobyan and the ones responsible for legal distribution of gas were subjected to violence. During the crime, four people received physical injuries of different degrees and were transferred to the hospital.” It turns out that the National Assembly of Armenia wasn’t informed about Hakobyan’s arrest as is required in the Constitution. According to the current legislation, an arrested National Assembly MP may be arrested for a maximum of 72 hours.
