Chirac advocates Iran

24/09/2006

The president of  France, Jacques Chirac has petitioned not to give the issue of the nuclear program of Iran to the UN Security Council for consideration. He explained that if doing so, Iran would stop the uranium enrichment. “I don’t believe that the problem will be solved without a dialogue”, said Chirac. This is the first time that the leader of the European country is “openly” saying that the issue of stopping the uranium enrichment process on the part of Iran should not be looked at as a downside for the negotiations on the nuclear program. Chirac has also said that Iran could stop the uranium enrichment process after starting the negotiations, but during that process as well.
