According to “Associated Press”, senator Norm Coleman (Minnesota) has said that he is not going to vote for approving the candidacy of a new Ambassador to Armenia proposed by president Bush because he hasn’t accepted the fact of the Armenian Genocide and the fact that 1,5 million Armenians were killed. According to the Armenian Assembly of America, Mr. Coleman is the first senator that made a public announcement saying that he will not vote for approving the candidacy of Richard Hoagland in the Ambassador’s position. Coleman represents the same party as president Bush and says, “My problem is not connected with Hoagland”. Coleman said that he struggled against the policy of their country not to recognize “historical truth”. On Thursday the U.S. Senate postponed the discussion of appointing a new Ambassador one more time and the next discussion is supposed to take place next month. The foreign affairs department of the U.S. Senate has 18 members, 10 out of which represent the Republican party, and 8 members represent the Democratic party. According to our information, 9 members of the foreign affairs department are against the appointing of Hoagland in the Ambassador’s position.
