On July 31, president of South Osya, Edward Kokoiti said, “South Osya, Abkhazia and Middle Dnestr will be recognized soon.” He didn’t say anything concerning Karabakh. During an interview given in Moscow, Kokoiti said that peacekeepers would stay in Osya and Abkhazia until the establishment of peace, “i.e. until those states are recognized”. “We expect Russia not to help us with military aid, but rather help create peace in the region,” said Kokoiti.
