US Congressmen are against opening the Kars-Akhalkalak railway and they didn’t vote for a legal bill allowing the “Export-Import” governmental fund to provide financial aid for the Kars-Tbilisi-Akhalkalak railway construction. It is worth mentioning that the railway doesn’t cross Armenia. “Our approach will support stability and peace in the Caucasus, the efforts to settle conflicts and will not free the citizens of paying taxes to Americans for projects out of the interests of Americans,” said Congressman Joseph Krauli. Recently, deputy head of the US Department of State, Daniel Frid said, “This 800 million dollar railway is out of the interests of regional integration”. Besides that, the newly appointed US Ambassador to Azerbaijan said, “We can’t provide financial aid for the railway construction because it leaves Armenia out of the process.”
