Letter/request

01/08/2006

The Armenian authorities finally took the time to help more than 100 citizens of Armenia stuck at the Higher Lars passing point closed by Armenia’s strategic ally Russia. Recently, Prime Minister of Armenia Andranik Markaryan ordered to organize a meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Georgia in Armenia Revaz Gachechiladze at the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Armenia, during which an official referendum was transferred to the Georgian authorities to let the 100 citizens pass the border and come to Armenia through Georgia. In order to avoid similar cases, the Armenian embassy in Russia and the major consuls have been assigned to inform citizens of Armenia through mass media about the deficiency of the border near the Ergnet residential area and that they can use the Novorosiysk-Poti harbor to pass.

The Georgian Foreign Affairs Ministry has informed that they have sent the letter to the Georgian government with the request of giving a positive solution. They may find out about the decision soon.
