Serge Sargsyan didn’t wait for the Republican out-of-turn board meeting and has applied to join the party. In spite of that, according to republicans, he had planned to do that during the board meeting, which was going to be a very important occasion. The fact that Serge Sargsyan announced his intention to join the party means that the party officials had not been informed whether he would join their party or not beforehand. As for the rumors about the prime-minister’s position, Serge Sargsyan said that it was not true. As for the president’s position, he said that he would make a decision on whether to be nominated or not after the 2007 parliamentary elections. “If the Republican party gets many votes, I may do so”, announced Serge Sargsyan. In regard to the fact that some businessmen hoped to be backed by him, he said that it was a normal thing.
