”Not one piece of land”

The commanders of the 2000 soldiers that participated in the Karabagh war are against giving any land to the Azerbaijani side as a compromise.

“Whoever lays a finger on even the smallest part of our Homeland will be considered yet another Turk invader and suffer the consequences,” as stated in the July 5 statement made by the soldiers.

“We call on all our patriots to stand up and defend our Homeland,” they said to “Azatutyun” radio station.

Commander of the “Arabo” team Manvel Yeghiazaryan considers “the readiness of Armenian authorities to hand over the territories” not as a compromise, but rather as “a loss and a failed diplomatic step made by Armenia.”

“This isn’t a compromise, this is a loss…People have accumulated billions and it’s obvious that they fear losing that much…”

The “Arabo” team commander is certain that the president won’t take that step. But if he does:

“I’ll have him know that the authorities motivating him to take that step are going to say that he is a traitor later on.”

“Neither the president nor any minister better try to give any land back; our brothers fought and sacrificed their lives for our Homeland,” said one of the commanders of the “Independence Army” team Lyova Sahakyan.

In response to the question as to what outlook they have for the Karabagh conflict resolution after rejecting the announcements made by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen, soldier Misha Apresyan said that they don’t think it’s appropriate to make compromises after the liberation of Karabagh. As for Manvel Yeghiazaryan, he believes that if Armenia returns five lands to Azerbaijan, then Azerbaijan must return five lands on its part, including Shahumyan, Martunashen, Getashen, Khanlar, etc.
