Several days ago, chief editor of “Yerevan-Time” newspaper, Arman Babajanyan was arrested for document falsification in order to void going to the army and is currently at the Nubarashen prison. He made an announcement stating the following, “The purpose of my imprisonment was to stop the legal, independent and fair media from doing its job, which is to develop democracy and try to make the current, illegitimate authorities step down from power.” According to him, the purpose was to pressure yet another mass media representative. The same announcement states that this was done by the order of the president and was implemented by the general prosecutor’s office. In addition, the YT staff has stopped its strike and they are going to speak out soon.
