American interests

30/06/2006

The new announcements made by the newly appointed OSCE American co-chairman, Matthew Bryza go against the interests of Armenia and Karabagh. This announcement only has to do with American interests connected with the regional energetic security and other issues. The US has said that it will discover new things in the Karabagh conflict negotiations process in 2006. As we see, the US is doing just that. This is pressure on Armenia on the threshold of the 2007 parliamentary elections and 2008 presidential elections. An official of the Azeri foreign affairs ministry has said that this announcement complies with their interests. By doing so the US is trying to solve some problems with the Armenian authorities. Taking into account the fact that the election period is drawing near, the US wants to reach its goal in the region before that. Either the US will use its resources and support some processes like it did in Ukraine or Georgia, or it will pressure the current authorities, who want to keep their power after the upcoming elections too. According to our information, the US wants Arthur Baghdasaryan to be nominated as president during the upcoming elections by making a coalition with the oppositional parties of Stepan Demirchyan and Aram Sargsyan. A. Baghdasaryan advocates the US model of starting revolutions and recruits more women and young people in his party. In this case, the current authorities will have to either agree with the conflict resolution version proposed by the US or may lose their power after the upcoming elections. As for Arthur Baghdasaryan, he is not competent enough to solve the Karabagh conflict and can be easily manipulated by the US after being elected in the president’s position.
