On June 26, the Catholicos of all Armenians Garegin II announced in Turkey that the Turks had perpetrated the Armenian Genocide and that issue was not a topic for discussion. “The Armenia people know for a fact that genocide happened and claim that it should be condemned. Scientists have discussed this issue for over 90 years”, said the Catholicos according to “Doghan” news agency. “Associated Press” writes that this announcement will make the visit of the Catholicos more complicated, even though he wasn’t greeted there well in the first place. In regard to rallies organized in Istanbul, the Catholicos said, “I wasn’t in a bad mood after hearing that. But if these rallies go on like this, they will prove that we still have a lot to do in order to enable these two nations to live together.”
